My girls are celtic redheads and this hat protected their scalps, but not their faces. We spent about 5 hours one day on a Caribbean beach (11-4p.m.) and they wore the hats without fail (I also applied zinka sunblock twice that day) yet they still got quite burnt faces. The lip of the cap has to constantly be turned down and the hats are no match for even a little wave (yep, we lost one). I would recommend this company consider making the caps with a strap to ensure it doesn't fly off and maybe ..
